As you arrive in Saudi Arabia for your Umrah journey, it can be overwhelming and sometimes prove difficult navigating yourself out of the airport. Here we’ll be going through a rough, step by step guide to help you whilst you’re out there.
Your plane is about to land with excitement levels increasing as the Haram is so close now. Once landed (and exited the plane) a shuttle bus will lead you from the plane to the terminal and your first step will be going through immigration. Immigration in Saudi Arabia involves the following:
- Passports being checked
- Picture being taken
- Fingerprints taken
These three procedures are standard practice, so do not be alarmed by this.
Now that all that immigration business is done and dusted, you continue going through to baggage reclaim. Keep an eye out for your luggage – at times can take a few minutes – and once spotted safely collect your belongings and continue to exit through the arrival lounge.
As you come out, an airport official will approach you (at the exit) to find out which company you are travelling with, in this case it will be the company that issued your visa and not the tour operator. They will ask for your itinerary (provided by the tour operator) and note down your passport number, they may even ask you for your passport, be sure to collect your passport before leaving the airport. They will record all the relevant information and put you into a taxi. Please make sure to clarify with the airport official that the service (transportation) has been paid for before getting into the taxi.
Your driver will take you to your hotel and your spiritual journey will begin inshaAllah.0
